Ada Muir, age 97, of Johnstown, ND, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society-Larimore, ND.
Ada was born December 14, 1917 at Gilby, ND, the daughter of John and Rachel (Lasham) Haddow. She was raised and grew to womanhood at Johnstown, where she attended school and graduated in 1936. Ada married Harry Muir on December 24, 1941 at Gilby. The couple made their home in the Johnstown area following their marriage. Mr. Muir preceded her in death in 1986.
Ada was a member of the Gilby Presbyterian Church where she was active in the church ladies group. She was a member of the Johnstown Homemakers; and a past 4-H, Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader.
Surviving members of her family include her daughters: Carol Muir, Johnstown, Helen (Tom) McDonald, Rosemount, MN; Sons: Ivan (Diane) Muir, Forest River; and John (Dory) Muir, Cherokee Village, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren: Jeffrey (Donna) Muir, Lance (Amy) McDonald, Leah (Bill) Shirley, Jared Muir, Derek (Deidre) Muir; 4 great grandchildren: Tanner Muir, Alexis McDonald, Alisha and Austin Shirley; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters: Mary Lottine, Ethel Bakken, Lillian Weaver, Frances Asleson, Arabelle Halstenson, Margaret Carlson and a baby brother.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015 at the Gilby Presbyterian Church in Gilby.
VISITATION: Tuesday, June 2 from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Wednesday.
INTERMENT: Inkster Cemetery, Inkster, ND.
