Andrew Bakke

Andrew Bakke, 18, of Larimore, ND passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, surrounded by his loving family, following a brief illness.

Andrew Theodore Henry Bakke was born July 5, 1992 in Grand Forks, the son of David and Melissa (Rolin) Bakke. He received Holy Baptism and confirmed his Christian faith at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Andrew attended Larimore Public School where he currently was a Senior. He looked forward to each day with a ready smile for everyone. Andrew was the Larimore High School Polar Bear Mascot for football, volleyball, and girl’s and boy’s basketball. He was proud to be the 2010 Prom Prince and 2010 Homecoming King candidate.

Andrew participated in Special Olympics swimming, track, soccer, bowling and basketball; also attending the State Competitions where he received many ribbons and medals for his events.

Andrew enjoyed deer hunting with his dad, Paul and grandpa; camping where he loved to have a fire to roast marshmallows and make s’mores for his family; swimming and watching movies with Sarah; helping his mom around the house; and especially enjoyed dancing.

Andrew was a volunteer at the Larimore Good Samaritan and at The Scoop in Larimore. In his 18 years with us, he touched many hearts and lives with his smile and always friendly personality. We love you Andrew.

Andrew is survived by his dad and mom David and Melissa, Larimore; brother Paul, Larimore and sister and brother-in-law Sarah and Jeff Hovde, Mayville; maternal grandmother Joan Rolin, Moorhead; many aunts, uncles and cousins and his special pet Penny.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Merlin Rolin, paternal grandparents Vance and Doreen Bakke.

FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 4, 2011 in the Larimore High School Auditorium.

INTERMENT: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore

VISITATION: Thursday, February 3 from 2-5 p.m. in the Bakke Funeral Home, Larimore with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Larimore. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the funeral in the school on Friday.

Co-officiants will be Rev. Daniel Carlson and Intern Pastor Marilyn Nyberg. Music selections will be provided by Mrs. Camilla Stover as the pianist, and the Larimore High School Choir accompanied by Mrs. Julie Mutch. Honorary pallbearers will be the 2011 Senior Class, Larimore High School Resource Room, Special Olympics Athletes and Coaches, and the Anne Carlsen staff. Casket bearers will be David Bakke, Melissa Bakke, Paul Bakke, Sarah Hovde, and Jeff Hovde.
