Andrew Givens

Andrew Robin Givens, 31, Fessenden, passed away June 1, 2026.

Born July 30, 1994 at Grand Forks AFB to Michael Givens, Sr. and Valerie Jacksen-Givens, he decided to light this world on fire from his very first moment. After graduation, he entered the North Dakota National Guard at the tender age of 17. Upon his return, he worked at American Crystal Sugar and joined his first brotherhood of firefighters in Mayville, ND.

His passion was to always help people which led to his decision to complete Peace Officer Training at Lake Region State College in Devils Lake, ND. True to form, he excelled and obtained his first position in Cando, ND. He would later work in Rolette County where he was fondly known as “Flash” and finally, Wells County as the youngest Chief Deputy on record at just 23 years old.

He quickly joined the Fessenden Fire Department and Park Board aways wanting and willing to help his chosen community excel. He soon realized that he had a deep need to make his childhood dream of being a regular firefighter. He applied and trained for Minot Fire Department and reveled every single day in doing what he loved. Andy was never one to sit still and dreamed of owning his own business. He and his wife, Megan, proudly left their mark in this world through Givens Construction and Concrete. They will be remembered by the many projects completed and the friends they made in the journey.

His most recent accomplishment was earning his North Dakota Emergency Medical Technician badge alongside his beautiful wife. Andy always walked forward, never back. If he had a dream or a goal, he did everything he could to achieve it.

He found his happiest moments with his family while fishing, camping, hunting, kayaking, and traveling. A simple snuggle at home was all he really needed.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Megan, children: Gavin (14), Delaney (8), Lindi (7), Sutton (6) and Liam (5), along with his father Mike Givens, Sr., and mother, Valerie Jacksen-Givens. Also brothers Jesse (Skye), Michael, Jr. (Taylor), and sister, Ashley, as well as Grandpa Larry Orvedal, along with 5 nieces and 5 nephews.

He is also survived by Megan’s parents, Donnie and Wanda Tostenson, and sister-in-law Melissa.

Andrew was preceded in death by his Grandma Linda Orvedal, and Grandparents Bob and Barbara Givens.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026 with visitation to begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Harvest Baptist Church in Larimore, ND. Lunch will follow.
