Anna Marie Sletten left her worldly home to enter the kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, October 15, 2016.
Anna Marie was born in Larimore, ND to Earl and Anna (Kvamme) Kegler on October 13, 1929. She was raised and educated in Larimore, graduating in 1947. She went on to attend Mayville State Teachers College in Mayville, ND and taught for one year in a country school, Morraine #76, near Larimore.
Anna Marie married Delmar Sletten on June 26, 1949. They farmed near Larimore where they raised their 6 children. In 1978, she began working as a teacher’s aide for the Larimore School District, retiring in 1992.
Anna Marie loved music, and she liked to sing. She was often asked to sing for weddings, funerals, and showers, as well as church services. She liked working with the children at school and taught Sunday School for many years.
In 2008, Anna Marie moved to the Dakota Meadows apartment in Larimore. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in 2012.
Anna Marie is survived by her husband and six children: Alvern (Rick) Reinhold, Arvilla, ND; Mary Brott, Larimore; Suzan (Steve) Clausen, West Fargo; Sonja (Mic) LaRoque, Detroit Lakes, MN; Martha (Duane) Petsinger, Arvilla; and David (Josie) Sletten, San Antonio, TX; along with 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Myrtle Williams, and three brothers Gordon, Aldrich, and Lyle.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Honeyford, ND.
VISITATION: Tuesday, October 18 from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service in the church Wednesday.
MEMORIALS: The Family requests memorials be given to the Larimore Good Samaritan Society, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Honeyford or Altru Hospice.
