Avis Krueger, of Grand Forks, passed away at Altru Hospital, in Grand Forks on Sunday, November 29, 2015 at the age of 85 years.
Avis Theoline Drengson was born January 9, 1930 on the family farm in Dahlen, ND to Alfred & Nora Ada(Swendseid)Drengson. She attended 1st grade at Kloten, ND and finished 1st & 2nd grades at Lutheran Childrens Home Grade School, Lake Park, MN. She then attended school in Petersburg where she & her siblings lived with their Aunt & Uncle ET & Elsie Swendseid after her mother’s death. Avis worked for Lawrence Folkers at Larimore from 1946-1947, she graduated from Petersburg High School in 1947. She then earned her teaching certificate from Mayville Teachers College and taught in a rural Nelson County school from 1947-1949.
Avis married Marvin Krueger June 20, 1948. Following their marriage they moved to Portland OR for 2 yrs where Avis was employed by Montgomery Wards. They then moved to Michigan ND where Marvin purchased a welding business. In 1954 they bought a farm north of Niagara where they farmed until 1997. Avis worked at the Good Samaritan Home in Larimore from 1981 to 1990 and also at Good Samaritan Home in Lakota from 1991 to 1997. Marvin passed away November 8, 2007 and in 2010 Avis moved to an apartment in Grand Forks.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy(Steve)Roland of Fisher, MN and her son, Kevin Krueger of Niagara, Grandchildren: Stephanie(Josh)Barrett, Travis(Marie)Roland, Jerod(Fiance Kendra)Roland, David(Fiance Courtney)Krueger, & Jonathon Krueger, Great Grandchildren: Blakely Barrett, Logan Krueger, & Draven Krueger, Sister: Lyla Evenson, Sister in Law: Ruth Hanssen, Brother in law: Henry(Ruth)Krueger , also several Cousins, Nieces, & Nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin, Parents, brothers Dean and Keith, sister Beverly Arnolde.
VISITATION: 5-7 pm Thursday, December 3 with a prayer service at 7pm at Bakke Funeral Home, Larimore, ND. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church Friday.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 11 am Friday, December 4 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, Niagara ND.
