BARBARA LOU (SCHREINER) JOHNSON

Barbara Lou (Schreiner) Johnson, 53, of Arvilla, ND, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at Altru Hospital after a brief battle with cancer.

Barbara Lou Schreiner was born January 3, 1962, to Eugene and Betty (Wymore) Schreiner in Devils Lake, ND. Barb was raised on a farm near Rock Lake, ND, and attended school and graduated from Rock Lake Public School. After graduation Barb moved to Grand Forks and attended Aaker’s Business College and later Northland Community and Technical College where she received her degree in Accounting. In 1988, Barb gave birth to her daughter, Heather. Barb and Heather moved to the Arvilla area in 1994 and she was united in marriage to Scott Johnson in 1995. Their son Tristen was born in 1996.

Barb’s biggest joy was raising her children Heather and Tristen. She was also known for her intense love of animals and being outdoors. Barb was the type of person who would help anyone in need and would rescue any animal in need of a home. She worked tirelessly, sometimes three jobs at a time, to support her family. Everyone who knew Barb knew how hard she worked. She spent several years working at the Arvilla Post Office, the Hitching Post, and most recently worked for the civil service in Human Resources at the Grand Forks Air Force Base.

Barb is survived by her children Heather and Tristen, sister, Renee (Richard) Hauschulz, brother, Mike (Rachel) Schreiner and nieces and nephews Sean and Stephany Hauschulz and Christian and Sarah Schreiner, aunts and uncles and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at the Larimore United Methodist Church with visitation at 10:00 am followed by the funeral at 11:00 am. Lunch will be immediately following the service at the Arvilla Community Center.
