Bernice Evelyn Brueckner age 92, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at her home near Niagara, ND, surrounded by her loving family.
Bernice was born October 7, 1929 at rural Niagara to Phillip and Edna (Vogel) Voelker. She received Holy Baptism and confirmed her Christian faith at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. Bernice received her public education at Niagara School. One of her prouder accomplishments that she enjoyed sharing with the grandchildren was that in 1946, she was awarded all district at the girls state basketball tournament.
Bernice was united in marriage to Martin Henry Brueckner at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Niagara on July 30, 1950. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Niagara. Much of Bernice’s time was spent milking cows and gardening.
Bernice enjoyed quilting, knitting baby caps, and in her later years doing puzzles and watching the birds outside her patio doors.
Bernice is survived by daughters Sandra Peterson, Grand Forks; Victoria (Larry) Landeis, Petersburg; Linda (Dan) Skelly, Arvilla; daughter-in-law Cathy Brueckner, Larimore; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; brothers Arnie Voelker, Petersburg, Bob Voelker, Niagara and sister Lois (Bob) Honek, Tabor, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marty, son Gary, son-in-law Bob and brothers Vern and Mark.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Friday, February 25 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Niagara.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the service.
INTERMENT: St. Andrew Lutheran Cemetery, Niagara.
