Clarice Elaine Lietz

CLARICE E. LIETZ

Clarice E. Lietz, age 77 years, was born February 22, 1937 in Devils Lake, ND, the daughter of Clement and Myrtle (Johnson) Verschure. She was raised there along with 2 sisters. Clarice attended high school and met the love of her life, Thomas Lietz, while car hopping at “The Barrel”. They were married June 18, 1954, had 2 children, and lived in numerous small North Dakota towns before settling on a farm at Inkster in 1970.
Clarice loved animals, especially dogs. She and Tom raised chickens, pigs and horses. She enjoyed gardening, both vegetable and flower; canning and baking.
Having worked many jobs, building boats at Silverline in Moorhead; laundries in Fargo and Grand Forks; at the Grafton Developmental Center (where she got her GED) and became a MedTech and fostered children with developmental needs.
After retiring Clarice cared for Tom until her health started failing. In 2012 they both moved into the Northwood Deaconess Nursing Home. Here is where Clarice passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014, surrounded by her family.
Leaving behind her husband of 60 years, Thomas, daughter Candise (Bill) Best and son Dwight “Tuffy” (Crystal) Lietz; 8 grandchildren: Lola, Stephanie, William “BJ”, Fawn, Cassandra, Hunter, Gunner and Stanley; 3 great grandchildren; sisters: Phylis “Tootie” (Marvin) Thompson of St. Paul, MN and Betty (David) Hollingsworth of Great Falls, MT; and an aunt: Lula Mae Hinderschiet of Tokio, ND; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Memorial/Prayer Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 13 at the Northwood Nursing Home with Chaplain Dean Lyste Officiating. Honorary Pallbearers will be All of Clarice’s Loving Family and Caring Friends.

***In lieu of flowers or cards, the Family asks memorials be sent to the Grand Forks Humane Society and the Northwood Nursing Home.
