Cleo J. Chambers, 93, Grand Forks and Larimore, North Dakota, died Monday, December 1, 2025 at Woodside Village in Grand Forks.

Cleo was born on New Year’s Day, 1932, in Larimore. She was the daughter of Axel and Edith (Lindquist) Christiansen. When her parents moved to California for defense work, Cleo remained in Larimore and was raised by her grandparents, Magnus and Mary Christiansen. She attended school in Larimore and graduated from Larimore High School with the 1950 class.

Cleo married Irvin Chambers in January, 1951, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Larimore. She later became St. Stephen’s Choir director, a position she cherished for many years. She also worked in the school kitchen in Larimore and developed many valued friendships with the students and staff.

Cleo was also a gifted seamstress and for several years she used her talents to create clothing for dolls which were donated to the Larimore Food Pantry.

Cleo always made sure her family was well fed. Holiday meals were traditional feasts of roast turkey, roast beef or pork with all the trimmings. Then came dessert: apple pie or pumpkin, or lemon meringue, maybe all three if you had room in your stomach. Her apple crisp was held in high regard by family and guests alike.

Cleo is survived by her sons: Dan (Grand Forks), Randy (Molt, MT) and Larry (Greeley, CO); grandchildren: Chris, Jacqueline, Katey and Cameron; great-grandchildren: Asia, Hannah and Aristea; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her husband, her daughter Wendy, son-in-law Ron Kerbaugh, and her brother Charles Christiansen.

Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2025 in the Bakke Funeral Home Chapel in Larimore.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.
