Connie Rae Gravdahl, 71, passed away peacefully at home in rural Northwood, North Dakota on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Connie was born on March 24, 1949, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the daughter of Philip and Freda Gratton. She attended country school for the early years, then finished school in Larimore graduating in 1967. She married Bruce Gravdahl on June 20, 1968, and lived in the rural Larimore area where they enjoyed a life together building their farm and a beautiful farmstead. She was a partner in every way in the farming operation. She loved to garden, both vegetables and flowers. She was a great cook and was probably best known as an expert seamstress and quilter. She created many beautiful quilts, wall hangings and table runners over the years and enjoyed being part of the Whipstitchers Quilt Guild. One of the greatest joys of her life were her children and grandchildren.
Connie is survived by her husband Bruce, rural Northwood. Her children and their spouses and grandchildren: Laura (Marlin) Thoreson (Riley and Tyler), Grand Forks, ND; Kristy (Brandon) Erickson (Daniel, Hayley and Christopher), Duluth, MN; and Jesse (Jessica) Gravdahl (Jack, Claire, Cate and Charlie), rural Northwood, ND. Also surviving Connie are her siblings: Sue Murphy, Fargo, ND, Colleen Gratton, Fargo, ND and Jeff Gratton, rural Northwood, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to thank the staff of Altru Hospice for all of the loving care that was given to her in her final weeks.
Private services will be held Friday, September 11,2020 in the Bakke Funeral Chapel, Larimore. Please practice social distancing and masks are recommended.
Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore
