Crete Cole

Crete Cole, age 89, of Arvilla, ND passed away Friday, July 6, at her home in Arvilla.

Crete, daughter of Omar and Belva (Hill) Olson, was born on February 27, 1929 at Langford, SD.  She was baptized and confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church of Langford.  Crete attended school at Langford, graduating in 1947 as valedictorian of her class.

On April 4, 1948 she was united in marriage to Neil S. Cole.  This began her life as a military wife.  To this union were born six sons and one daughter.  She called them her seven wonders of the world.  After her husband’s retirement from the U. S. Air Force, they settled in Larimore, ND, later moving to Arvilla.  She was employed at the Grand Forks Air Force Base and retired in 1989.

Surviving members of her family include sons:  Micheal, Dennis (Rosie), Douglas (Susan), Bruce (his dog Boomer), and daughter Cheryl (Ted) Ciak; a brother Sherman (Susan) Olson; 21 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; and best friend Bonnie Cole.

She was preceded in death by her husband Neil on May 25, 2003, sons Raymond and Kevin; her parents, brothers Dwight and Darwain; sister Marcene and baby granddaughter Tina Marie Cole.

FUNERAL SERVICES:  10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14 at the Arvilla Presbyterian Church in Arvilla.

VISITATION:  Friday, July 13 from 5-7 p.m. at the Bakke Funeral Home in Larimore.  Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Saturday.

INTERMENT:  Arvilla Cemetery
