Darlene Carlson

Darlene Carlson, age 83, of Larimore, ND, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020 at her home in Larimore.

Darlene was born November 20, 1936 in Walhalla, ND, the daughter of Albert and Ida (Lafferty) Ouellette.  She attended and graduated from Walhalla High School.  Later she worked in Walhalla for Dr. Krahn and various farmers around the area.  In 1970, she moved to Grand Forks and worked at the Grand Cafe.  She then worked for Deaconess Hospital in housekeeping for 23 years until a back injury forced her to retire.

She enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casinos and playing cards.  She loved nothing more than just being with family and friends.

Darlene was a foster grandparent for the school system in Grand Forks for 3 years.  She then moved to Larimore and continued in the foster grandparent program there for 10 years.  Everyone knew her as Grandma “D”.

Surviving members of her family include daughters:  Alida Nelson, Londa (James) DeCoteau, Sons:  Allen Lafferty, Daryl Lafferty, 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren  and looking forward to the arrival of another; and her brother John (Sue) Ouellette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son:  Harvey Hell, daughters:  Laurie Johnson and Mary Ann Deziel, brothers:  Ole and Fred Ouellette, and sisters:  Della Larson and Lilly Wirtz.

SERVICES will be held  2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 1 in the Bakke Funeral Chapel, Larimore.
