David Karas, age 69, of Larimore, ND passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
David was born April 12, 1946 at Grafton, ND the son of John and Alice (Votava) Karas. He was raised and grew to manhood at Lankin, ND, where he also received his public education. He served in the U. S. Army National Guard. David married Patricia Jelinek on June 22, 1968 in Pisek, ND. After their marriage they lived in various communities until moving to Larimore in 1969. They started Karas Construction in 1970 with one backhoe, gradually building the business as one of the largest ND contractors installing water lines. He continued his business with his sons until the time of his passing.
Everything he achieved was for the sake of his family. He also became a private pilot in 1987. He loved fishing and deer hunting. He will be missed forever.
Surviving members of his family include his wife: Pat; Sons: Jeffrey Karas and Kurt (Melanie) Karas, all of Larimore; grandchildren: Colton, Kelsey and Thomas; brothers: Jack (Dorothy) Karas, Lankin; Randy (Doris) Karas, Lakota; sisters: Mary (Larry) Greicar, Grand Forks; Evonne (Hans) Altendorf, Grafton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Larimore.
VISITATION: Monday, July 27 from 6-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the Mass in the Church Tuesday.
INTERMENT: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND.
