DELORIS CASEMENT
Deloris Casement, age 87 passed away in Dallas, Texas and went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, September 10th.
Deloris was born on June 21st, 1926 to Elmer and Stella Staven of Park River, North Dakota. She was the eldest of four girls.
Deloris has been living in Dallas, Texas at Sunrise of Hillcrest so she could be near her son, Steve Casement, who also lives in Dallas. Deloris was born and raised in Park River, North Dakota. As one of four girls she enjoyed living and working on the farm owned by her parents. She attended Park River high school and attended Park River Lutheran church with her family.
During here high school years she had the privilege to travel to Washington DC to witness the signing of a child health act signed into law by then President Roosevelt. A photo of this was published in The New York Times dated March 18th, 1944.
After high school Deloris attended Minot State Teachers College and became an elementary school teacher. She took her first job teaching in Fordville, North Dakota where she met the love of her life, Richard Casement, who had recently returned home from The Navy where he served on the USS Windham Bay during World War II.
Deloris and Richard were married on July 4th, 1948 and lived in Fordville where Richard worked at the John Deere dealership along with his brother and father. In 1951 they welcomed the birth of their only son, Steve Casement. The family attended The Fordville Presbyterian Church where they were active for many years. Deloris taught school while Richard worked in the John Deere Dealership with his father and brother Don.
It was in 1963 that Richard, Deloris and Steve moved to Larimore, North Dakota where Richard became partner and eventual owner of the John Deere Dealership there. It was during this time Deloris started teaching again in the Larimore school system as a first grade teacher. She loved children and enjoyed working with them so much. She also went on to get more teacher training and graduated from Mayville State teachers college in the early 1970's.
During their time in Larimore Deloris, Richard and Steve were members of the United Methodist Church and Deloris was very active in the women's ministry there for many years. In 1988 Richard and Deloris retired and started spending the winter months in Mesa, Arizona then returning to North Dakota during the summer. They had many wonderful years of retirement and traveled extensively building many fond memories together.
In 2007 Deloris and Richard moved to Dallas, Texas where they lived for six years. Her husband Richard, passed away in January of 2011. During the past six years in Dallas Deloris would attend Fellowship Bible Church of Dallas with her son Steven on Sundays. It was the highlight of her week as she enjoyed Fellowship Bible and made many friends there who loved her and always went out of their
way to make her feel welcome. Women from the church would also go visit Deloris at Sunrise and made her feel cared for and loved.
Her days at Sunrise of Hillcrest were filled with many fond memories and she was dearly loved by so many there as well. On September 10th, Deloris passed peacefully into the presence of her Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ, whom she loved.
Deloris is survived by her son, Steve Casement of Dallas, her twin sisters Lois Wyble and Laverne Williams of Westminster, Colorado. Deloris was preceded in death by her other sister Shirley Edwards also of Westminster, Colorado. Deloris has many wonderful nieces and nephews whom she loved so dearly and she in turn was loved by them.
There is a memorial service on Saturday, September 28th at 1:00 PM at Sunrise of Hillcrest in Dallas, Texas.
Another memorial service will be held Saturday, October 26th at 10:30 AM in Larimore, North Dakota at the Larimore United Methodist Church.
Deloris will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Richard at Bellevue, Cemetery.
