Edward "Ed" Georgeson

Edward L. Georgeson, age 87, of Larimore, ND, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026.

Edward was born on February 26, 1938, to Richard and Marie (Sather) Georgeson in Larimore. He was the second of four children and was raised near Niagara, ND. He attended a rural school ten miles west of Larimore before graduating from Larimore High School in 1955.

After high school, Ed farmed for several years before enlisting in the United States Army in March of 1959. He served in Korea and returned home to the family farm in 1961.

Edward met Joan Werpy, and the two were married for 55 years. Together, they raised two children: Debra Nelson and Ross (Bonnie) Georgeson. Ed drove truck for 16 years and later worked at the fertilizer plant, where he continued his career until retiring at age 62. Over the years, Ed developed a deep love for woodworking. He often said, “There was probably something in most of the homes in Larimore that I made.” His specialty was cedar chests, and he crafted more than 60 of them.

Ed was known for many things - spending time at the golf course, the bowling alley and softball fields. He took a daily coffee trip uptown in the morning and one in the afternoon. 

He was an avid Larimore Polar Bear fan and could regularly be found sitting center court in the gym or on the sidelines of the football field. Some of his passions included gardening and canning, as well as being involved at Bethel Church alongside his late wife Joan. 

Edward is survived by his children, Debra Nelson and Ross (Bonnie) Georgeson; grandchildren, April (Brian) Grunhovd, Adam Nelson, Janafer (Cole) Johnson, Jessica Georgeson, Brittany (Brady) Swanson and Renee Kerkaert; and great-grandchildren, Lexie, Bennett, Kendall, Hailey, Janehya, Jaydon, Ophelia, Braelyn, Penelope, Emma, Brogan, Olive, and Brock. He is also survived by his sisters, Alice Holweger and Helen (Kenneth) Farrell.

He is preceded in death by his wife Joan Georgeson, parents Richard and Marie Georgeson, and brother James (Betty) Georgeson, brother-in-law Eugene Holweger.

A visitation service will be held from 5:00-7:00p.m. Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Bakke’s Funeral Home in Larimore.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00p.m. Friday, January 30, 2026, at Bethel Lutheran Church in rural Larimore. There will be a one hour visitation before the service. Friends and family are invited to a gathering at Good Friends following the service for visiting and fellowship from 2:00-5:00pm.
