Eldred Edwin Brorby,
age 84, of Arvilla, ND,
passed away July 20, 2014
at Altru Hospital in Grand
Forks, ND.
Eldred was born December
17, 1929 on a farm
near Kempton, ND to Edwin
and Anna (Hjartaas)
Brorby. He grew up and
attended grade school at a
rural school near Kempton.
He was the oldest left at home to help his mother and
sisters. He would walk across the field a mile to Kempton
for groceries in the winter.
He met and later married the love of his life, Beverly
Jane Drewlo, on November 19, 1950 at Our Savior’s Lutheran
Church of Larimore. It was small, but it was the
first marriage performed in the new church.
In 1951, Eldred was drafted into the Army. He was stationed
at Virginia Beach, VA and served as an amphibious
(duck) driver and instructor, loading and unloading
the ships off shore. He also served in France during the
Korean Conflict. He received his Honorable Discharge in
1953. He was a member of the Larimore Ted Valerius
American Legion Post 97.
Eldred worked for Dr. C.O. Haugen, Larimore for many
years farming; also for Bradshaw Gravel, Davidson Gravel
and last for Jensen Gravel as a heavy equipment operator
until his retirement.
Eldred is survived by two daughters: Melody (David)
Davidson, Grand Forks and Michelle (Maynard) Overby,
Mekinock; three grandchildren: Adam (Bobbie) Davidson,
Eugene, OR; Ashley (Eric) Hessinger, Minneapolis,
MN and Aaron (Casey) Davidson, Williston, and two
great grandsons: Cason Davidson and Decker Davidson,
Eugene, OR; brother: Earnest Brobry, Northwood;
sister: Leona (Frank) Theis, Moorhead, brother-in-law:
Howard (Nola) Drewlo, Arvilla and sister-in-law: Lotus
(Drewlo) Jensen, Grand Forks and many nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Eldred was preceded in death by his dear wife Beverly
of 62 plus years, she passed away June 13, 2013; his
parents, brothers: Oral, Victor, Glenn and a sister: Arveida
Korsgarden.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday,
July 24, 2014 at the Bakke Funeral Chapel, Larimore,
ND.

Military Honors: Ted Valerius Post No. 97 and the
North Dakota National Guard Honor Team.

Interment: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore
