Ethel Saward, 84, Larimore ND (formerly Ipswich, England) passed away peacefully on March 12th 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center, Larimore.
Ethel was born October 4, 1931 in London England, daughter of Michael and Ethel Edmunds-Lannigan.
Ethel moved to her long term home of Ipswich as a young girl. She followed her love Kenneth to Hong Kong where he served in the Royal Air Force. They were married there in 1952.
Ethel enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening. She was an animal lover and donated actively to a horse rescue society in England. She volunteered at many charity events, including ones for the Red Cross at their charity store, which she also volunteered at for many years. She was a member of a women’s club in England and enjoyed sharing tales of her adventures with the ladies she befriended over the years. She also performed in numerous musical shows with the same group. Ethel travelled extensively and had visited many places including Germany, Luxembourg, Canada, Belgium, and 38 of the 50 United States. Ethel always had a song in her heart and her family will always remember her singing and dancing wherever she went.
She is survived by her daughters Judith (Michael) Quinn, McCanna, ND and Christine (William) Thompson, Yuba City, CA. Grandchildren Victoria (Robert) Tejes, Matthew (Kayla) Quinn and Daniel Quinn, Michael (Donya) Thompson, and Hayley Thompson. Great grandchildren Kinley and Callen Quinn, Gabriel Tejes and Owyn Thompson, and two sisters Edna Finlayson and Iris Harris, both of England.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenneth and her parents.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at the Good Samaritan Center at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 with Pastor Raenelle Sorensen officiating.
MEMORIALS: Ethel has requested that donations be made to the Good Samaritan Home instead of flowers.
Ethel’s family would like to thank the staff at the Good Samaritan Center Larimore for their care, love and compassion shown to Ethel during her 2 1/2 years living there. The staff went above and beyond their duties to ensure that mom was well cared for and to make us feel welcome and part of the Good Samaritan Family.
