Eva Bornsen

Eva L. (Braaten) Bornsen, 89, died surrounded by family on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Eva was born to Peter and Josephine Braaten on May 6, 1927, at rural Emerado. She was raised in Larimore and attended school there.

Eva married Frederick Bornsen, Sr. on September 16, 1946, at Crookston, Minnesota. During their 70-year marriage, they had four children of their own and opened their home to many other family and friends. Eva had an incredible gift for hospitality and made sure no visitor went without coffee and cookies. She was known for her baking, gardening, and above all, her tremendous faith. In addition to singing at church and teaching Sunday school for a number of years, Eva was known for her dedication to a life of prayer.

Eva was preceded in death by two infant sons, a son-in-law, her parents and several siblings.

Eva will be deeply missed by her husband Fred of the home, her son Fred, Jr. (Heather) of Enderlin, ND; her daughter Janice Olson of Larimore; grandchildren Kristi (Pat) Christensen of Battle Creek, MN; Donald Bornsen of Fargo; Lynn (Len) Boom of Marion, ND; Ashley (Curt) Mann of Mapleton, ND; Dawn (Cary) Murphy of Clay Center, KS; Tim Olson of Larimore; Matt (Jana) Olson of Valley City; Luke Olson of Williston; ten great-grandchildren, two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 13, at Renew Community Church, 501 E. Third St., Larimore. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Bakke Funeral Home, 701 Towner Ave., Larimore. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.
