Florence L. Haugen Christopher, age 102, of Larimore, ND, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society-Larimore.
Florence was born October 15, 1912 at Roseau, MN, the daughter of Nels and Amanda (Peterson) Englund. At the age of 2, she moved with her family to a farm near Larimore. She was raised and grew to womanhood at Larimore, where she also received her public education. Florence married G. Colin Haugen on December 17, 1931 in Grand Forks. She was a U. S. Government employee for 22 years in the Larimore Post Office. Colin died September 13, 1981. In September, 1992, she married Lawrence Christopher in Larimore. The couple spent their summers in Grand Forks and winters in Scottsdale, Arizona. Lawrence died February 14, 1997.
Florence was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in Ladies Aid and Altar Guild, and taught Sunday School. She was active at the Larimore Golf Course and was the first secretary after the course was organized. Her greatest pastime was a good game of Bridge.
Surviving members of her family include her daughter-in-law: Tonie Haugen, Hastings, MN; grandchildren: Tammy (Paul) Wiederholt, James Haugen, John (Lora) Haugen; great grandchildren: Talli Wiederholt, Julianne Medcraft, Kyle and Kayla Haugen; stepdaughters: Laurie (Dr. Ed) Feldman, Chicago, IL and Vicki (Michael) Hunst, St. Paul, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husbands: Colin and Lawrence, her son Dr. Donald Haugen, her parents and brother: George Englund.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Larimore.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral in the church Thursday.
INTERMENT: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.
