Frances Amundson

On a crisp October morning, at the age of 93, Frances Jean Amundson left this earthly life and entered her heavenly home.   She was surrounded by her children who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest.  Frances was a loving wife and partner to Walter James Amundson whom she married on 11/23/46.  Together they raised a family of eight on the family farm near rural Gilby, ND enjoying everything farm living had to offer.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Frances.  As a loving mother to 8 children, grandmother to 18 and great grandmother to 30, her biggest joy in life was her family; especially the little children.  Frances being the ultimate farm girl and at the young age of 4 she learned how to milk cows.  Her family and friends knew of her love for old-time polka music, her love of dancing, crocheting, embroidery, gardening, and canning.  Frances was extremely proud of her award winning caramel roll recipe which was published in a national magazine.  She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities and was often found reading, doing word searches or putting together a puzzle.  Many of her time spent on this earth was teaching others.  She loved teaching and passing along her love of baking, quilting and embroidery to the grand-children and many have learned how to make the perfect slice of lefse.  Mom/Grandma always made sure you didn’t leave empty handed and sent frozen corn, canned green beans, homemade caramel rolls or any of the favorites when you got ready to leave.

Frances was an active member of Living Faith Free Lutheran church and she stayed involved with the women’s bible study group until the time of her death.

Celebration of her life will be held at Living Faith Free Lutheran Church in Larimore, on Saturday, October 16, at 10:30am with Visitation beginning at 9:30am.  Interment will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.  Active pall-bearers include her grandsons and granddaughters are honorary pall-bearers.  Frances is survived by her 8 children; Robert (Mary), Janice, Mary (Tom), Sharon (Les), Ronald (Rhonda), Nancy (Glen), Cindy, Richard (Renae) and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Helen Lindberg, husband Walter James Amundson, siblings June Loeffler, Doris Muir and Bobby Lindberg and son-in-law Richard Anderson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Living Faith Free Lutheran Church.
