Geraldine "Geri" Borgen

Geraldine (Geri) A. Borgen age 80 of Aneta, ND,  passed away on May 12, 2025 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks surrounded by her husband Dennis M. Borgen, her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Geri was born June, 18 1944 the daughter of Orville and Mildred (Johnson) Kelley in Fordville, ND and attended High School in Petersburg, ND. She married the love of her life Dennis M. Borgen of Niagara, ND on January 2, 1963. They lived on the family farm and raised their 4 children, 1 granddaughter and help with their great granddaughter. They later moved to Aneta, ND where they currently reside.

Geri loved quilting (she made 100's!), creating photo albums for her family, gardening, garage sales and thrift store shopping. Her biggest enjoyment was delivering her quilts to nursing homes, sending them to news station hosts and making sure her family had enough blankets to stock a hotel.

Geri will be greatly missed by her husband Dennis M. Borgen, 2 daughters Sherril Smith Larimore, ND Sheila Northrop (John Northrop) Tennessee, Granddaughter Shanda Borgen Mountain Home, ID whom she raised since a baby, Mahdison and Kloey Borgen of Idaho. Grandchildren; Michael Barry, Joshua Borgen, Jason Northrop, Cassandra Anderson, Jessica Borgen, Ashleigh Borgen and Amanda Andres and 14 Great Grandchildren with 2 more on the way.

She is preceded in death by her 2 sons Kevin M. Borgen, Curtis J. Borgen. Her parents Orville and Mildred Kelley and 3 Grandsons John Northrop Jr., Mitchell Northrop and Robert Smith, Jr.

There will be a visitation Wednesday, May 14 from 4-6 p.m. in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore.

A Graveside service will be held Friday, May 16 at 10 a.m. in Lom Cemetery, rural Niagara, ND.
