Gilbert Turtedal, 84, of Larimore, ND died Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society-Larimore.
Gilbert was born August 28, 1933 in Churches Ferry
ND to Osmund and Tone (Lystad) Turtedal. He attended school in Honeyford, Arvilla and Larimore. He farmed with his brothers Tov and Olaf. In 1953 he was inducted into the Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. After an honorable discharge in 1955 he returned to farming until 1987. Gilbert then went to work for Vern Gornowicz (Vern’s Refuse) who became a very good friend. In 2003, he began working for the Stover family, retiring in 2012. In November of 2014 Gilbert entered the Good Samaritan Home.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing but his favorite pastime was his old cars.
He was very patriotic and a loyal member of The American Legion and past member of old car clubs.
Gilbert is survived by nieces Eunice (Swenson) Peterson of Sheridan, WY and Bette (Swenson) Grass of Northwood, ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tov and Ole, sister Ingeborg Swenson, three nephews and two nieces.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2017 at the Bakke Funeral Home Chapel in Larimore, ND.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral service.
INTERMENT: Washington Lutheran Church Cemetery of rural Northwood, ND.
MILITARY HONORS: Ted Valerius Post 97 of the Larimore American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Team.
