Glenn Larson, lifelong farmer of Fordville, North Dakota passed away peacefully Sunday, April 2nd 2017 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was born on January 30th 1923 to Arthur and Emma Larson. Proud of serving his country during World War ll as a sergeant in the Army, Glenn often said, “It was one of the best things I ever did.” On November 5th 1948 he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Fried and together they raised five children.
He will always be remembered for his love of farming and family, integrity, work ethic, perseverance, quiet presence, strong hugs and ice blue eyes. Hobbies include: farming.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 68 years, his sons Lynn Larson (Rosie), Fordville, ND, and Les Larson (Elodie), La Plata, NM, and daughters Laurine Hodny (Tim), Grand Forks, ND and Denise Ramsdale (Scott), Eagan, MN, 11 grandchildren,28 great grandchildren, sisters Enid Ikeda (Tug), Great Falls, MT, Bertha Laidlaw (Bud), Fargo, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.
Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Harley and Loren, sister; Norma, son; Dean, daughter in law; Rosie, great grandson; Dylan.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday April 7, 2017 at Elk Valley Lutheran Church of rural McCanna, ND.
VISITATION: Thursday, April 6 from 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Fordville, ND. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Friday.
INTERMENT: St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery of Conway, ND.
MILITARY HONORS: Ted Valerius Post 97 of the Larimore American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Team.
