Harlan Vance Ritterman

Harlan “Tex” Vance Ritterman, age 77 of Larimore ND passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at his home.
Harlan was born on March 19, 1937 in Rugby ND at his grandparent’s home to Herman and Margie (Myhre) Ritterman. His elementary education was at Hurricane Lake Township. He graduated from Rugby High School. He graduated from Devils Lake Junior College and earned a BS from Minot State College. He also attended UND in Grand Forks. He served 4 years in Rugby National Guard as a sergeant. He taught science at various North Dakota schools, including Braddock, Pettibone, North Central of Rogers, Larimore, Crary, Valley High at Hoople and Walhalla. Harlan was united in marriage to Bette Laine on June 1, 1963 at Kintyre, ND.
Harlan was a former/current member of the following organizations: Larimore Jaycees, Larimore Mens Club, Emerado-Arvilla Lions, Elks Club, Turtle River Lions Club, Larimore Golf Course, Larimore Improvement Association, Larimore Fire Department, Larimore Park Board, served on Our Savior Lutheran Church Council and President of the Larimore Education Association and Treasurer for the Grand Forks County Democrats.
Tex enjoyed golfing, playing pinochle and shooting pool. He coached freshman boys’ basketball and Legion baseball in Larimore. Also was the announcer for the Larimore Polar Bears home football games for several years. Tex liked watching his grandson play baseball and basketball. He also was a UND fan.
Harlan is survived by his wife Bette, son Rocky (Denise), grandson Rex, step granddaughter Brittani (Jereme), step grandson Ian, step great grandson Riley, brother Gary and several aunts and an uncle, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Margie, sister-in- law Jeanette and nephew Ricky.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10:30am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Larimore.

Visitation will be Monday December 15, 2014 from 4pm-6pm at Bakke Funeral Home in Larimore with a prayer service at 5pm. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Tuesday.

Interment will be at Bellevue Cemetery in Larimore.

Military Honors: Ted Valerius Post 97 and the ND National Guard Honor Team.
