Harold Roger Tveit, 85, of Larimore, ND passed away peacefully, September 17, 2026, at Northwood Deaconess Health Center.
Harold was born on March 16, 1941, in Northwood, ND during one of the worst winter storms of modern history to Sigurd and Beatrice (Ostrem) Tveit. He graduated from Logan Center School and enlisted in the United States Army in February 1961. He was honorably discharged in February 1963.
Harold spent his adult life farming in the Logan Center area, later farming with his nephew Steve. Farming was his passion, and it remained an important part of his life long after he retired.
On January 19, 1979, Harold married Marlene. Marlene had two daughters, Susie and Brenda. Soon after they welcomed their daughter, Kristie. He often said “I got Marlene, the yellow truck and Kristie all in the same year.”
In 2013 he retired, but like any farmer he didn’t really retire. He enjoyed spending time working on his old tractors and the Edsel. He spent his time finding them, refinishing them and keeping them running. When asked why did you buy that tractor; he would respond “because I wanted to”. He enjoyed old cars, fishing, spending time with family and good food. He and Marlene enjoyed winters in Arizona.
Harold will be remembered for his quick wit and perfectly timed one-liners. He gave everyone a nickname. He was a wonderful husband, Dad, PaPa, uncle and friend. He loved his family, his friends and the farm.
Harold is survived by his daughters, Kristie (Paul) Hagen of Moorhead, Susie (Jeff) Pfeifer of Detroit Lakes, and Brenda Steffens of Walcott; grandchildren Jocelyn, Jebediah and Havanna Hagen, Anthony Day and Zachery Hansen; great-grandchildren August Day and Tristan Kaoud; sister Sonia Midgarden of Grafton; sisters-in-law Jane Tveit and Carol Tveit; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; his parents, Sigurd and Beatrice Tveit; siblings Elizabeth Larson, Paul Hutchinson, Arnold Tveit and Earl Tveit; in-laws August & Helen Wageman, Trygve Larson, Charlotte Hutchinson and Nels Midgarden; nephew Lyle Hutchinson; and niece Julie Hutchinson.
His legacy lives on in the land he loved and the family he cherished.
