Henry Ouradnik

Henry Ouradnik passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at the age of 100. Henry was born June 19, 1921 to Charles and Bertha Ouradnik on a farm near Burlington, ND. He was one of nine children.

Henry received his elementary education at a rural school and spent the first two years of high school in Petersburg, ND. He transferred to Walsh County Agricultural and Training School in Park River, ND for his final two years of high school.

His academics and awards earned him the honor as one of five graduates to represent his class. His love for livestock soon made him an excellent judge. Henry became the North Dakota FFA Livestock Judging Champion, and was a member of the ND Judging Team that placed third at nationals in Kansas City, MO. He received a scholarship from the Danforth Foundation to attend a leadership camp in Shelly, Mich., and also went on to Cleveland, OH to judge the World Poultry contest.

Henry attended Agricultural College in Fargo, ND where he met and married his wife, Dorothy Flaa. They raised four boys on a farm near Petersburg, ND and later purchased a dairy farm near Larimore, ND.

He spent his retirement years working at the Larimore Golf Course. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Larimore, the Masonic Lodge and the Larimore Lions Club receiving the Melvin Jones Leadership Award.

Henry loved sports of every kind, and especially loved watching his four boys play a variety of sports growing up. He was an avid Fighting Sioux fan, as well as the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings.

His last years were spent in the excellent care of the staff at the Larimore Good Samaritan Home.

Henry is survived by his four sons, Jim (Susan) Scottsdale, AZ, Rick (Jeri) Billings, MT, Dave (Ilene) Sun Lakes, AZ, Mark (Barbara) Livermore, CO, eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and sister Louise Johnson, West Fargo, ND.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife, Dorothy, brothers Howard, Loren, Donald, Robert and sisters Frances, Ethel and Betty.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 in the United Methodist Church in Larimore, ND.  Burial will take place in Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.
