Herbert L. Schultz, age 90, of Jamestown, ND and formerly Petersburg, ND, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Ave Maria Village in Jamestown.
Herbert was born January 6, 1928 at Norwich, ND, the son of Gustav and Ida Mae (Johnson) Schultz. He was raised and grew to manhood in the Norwich-Granville area and graduated from Granville High School. He attended UND where he obtained a degree in Journalism. Herbert served in the United States Army and the North Dakota National Guard from April 21, 1947 to July 27, 1986.
Herbert married Marlene Iverson on June 18, 1967 at Dahlen, ND. They moved to the Carl Iverson farm near Dahlen in 1975, where they lived and farmed. Herbert was also a newspaper printer for various newspapers around the state. His wife Marlene passed away October 8, 1995. He moved to Jamestown in August, 2016.
Herbert was a member of the Lankin American Legion, Devils Lake Elks Club and the 40 and 8 in Grand Forks.
He is survived by his son Chad W. Schultz of Dahlen, ND.
Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Clarence G. Schultz and sisters: Lorna Mansfield, Clara Spratt and Doris Braun.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Dahlen Lutheran Church in Dahlen, ND.
VISITATION: Thursday, July 5 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Friday.
INTERMENT: Memorial Park South, Grand Forks, ND.
MILITARY HONORS: Bosh Ryba Post 157 of the Lankin American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Team.
