James “Jim” Farrell, age 92, of Royal, Arkansas and formerly of Larimore, ND, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2019 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
James Leo Farrell was born on October 22, 1926 in Larimore to Lee and Katherine Farrell. Jim was an altar boy, lector, catechism teacher and on the board of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Larimore. He graduated from Larimore High School in 1944 and immediately went into the Navy. He was honorably discharged after the war and returned to Larimore and it was there he met and married Donna Benson. They made their home on a farm outside Arvilla, North Dakota and raised two sons.
Jim was a dedicated farmer and a rural letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service. He was so punctual that his patrons would set their clocks by him as he pulled up to their mailbox. He fought the elements of North Dakota farming for forty years and delivering the mail for 31 years. He retired in 1991.
Upon retirement, Jim and Donna fulfilled their retirement dream by moving to southwest Florida. They enjoyed many retirement activities with new friends, but especially enjoyed the warm Florida winters. They lived in Florida for 15 years then made their home in Royal, Arkansas.
Jim is survived by his sons Bill (Dorothy) of Larimore, and Mike of Royal, Arkansas, his brother Kenneth (Helen) of Larimore and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Donna, his parents and brothers Eugene and John.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Larimore.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the service in the church.
RITE OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.

Celebrant will be Rev. Father William McDermott. Casket bearers are Tim Farrell, David Farrell, Paul Farrell, Jeannie Tvedt, Joe Farrell and John Brune.
