JAMES A. HALSTENSON

James A. Halstenson, age 76, of rural Niagara, ND, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
James A. Halstenson was born June 18, 1937 at rural Niagara, the son of Hilman and Mildred Halstenson. He married Marcy Krueger on July 30, 1955. Jim took over the family farm at the age of 14. He also taught music at Langdon, Fordville, and spent most of his career at Unity in Petersburg, ND.
Jim was a lifetime member of Elk Valley Lutheran Church. He served on numerous boards including Polar Communications, North Dakota Telephone Company and the Park River Bible Camp.
Jim especially loved his family, his church, farming and playing his guitar.
Surviving members of his family include his wife Marcy; sons: Michael Halstenson, Anoka, MN, Tom (Vonnie) Halstenson, Fargo; daughter: Kari (Jim) Young, Ocoee, TN; first cousin: Janet Willms St. Paul, MN; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Elk Valley Lutheran Church of rural McCanna, ND.

VISITATION: Monday, March 10 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. with a 5 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Tuesday

INTERMENT: Elk Valley Church Cemetery, rural McCanna.
