James Zumwalt

On Wednesday, August 2, 2017, James Leon Zumwalt of Grand Forks, ND passed away suddenly at the age of 44.

James was born October 5, 1972 in Phoenix, Arizona, the son of James and Paula (Downard) Zumwalt.

James, also known as “Jim”, enjoyed snowboarding, hiking, fishing, playing video games with his sons, and building log furniture. He served in the military proudly, doing a tour in Germany.


He will be forever remembered by his former spouse and friend, Laura Zumwalt, their three sons Ben, Sam and Jimmy Zumwalt, his oldest son Bryce Tomas (Rebecca) of California, his brother Joe Zumwalt of Montana, and his sister Gretchen Zumwalt of New Mexico. James will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

He is preceeded in death by his parents James and Paula Zumwalt.

Memorial Service will be held at Bakke Funeral Home in Larimore on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 7 pm.
