Jerome Holweger died Friday, December 4, 2020 at home in Larimore, ND surrounded by his family at the age of 83.

Jerome was born on May 24, 1937 in Northwood, ND to Joseph H. and Irene (Molstad) Holweger.   He started farming with his dad when he was old enough to sit and trip a hay rake.  They farmed with horses and one of the first tractors.

Jerome attended country school and then Larimore High school.  He trained his horse, Flash, to do several tricks and showed her at local rodeos.  He was active in 4-H and won several awards including a trip to Chicago for livestock judging.

He met Ethel (Jan) Pikey and they married in Sanborn, ND June 15, 1958.  They had four children, Jamey, Jeanine, Jeanette, and Jay and made their home near Larimore, ND.

Jerome farmed near Arvilla and Larimore.  Jerome also worked at Armor Meat Packing, Larimore Elevator and Potato House, and the Crystal Sugar Plant. While farming he also sold grain bins for Peavey Elevators and put them up for farmers after his work day.  He owned milk cows, rental properties, and worked at Baseview Champlin (Petroleum) for many years.  He was a mechanic, parts man, sales rep, bulk truck driver, and pumped gas.  One day while pumping gas, he was severely electrocuted.  He retired and rented out his land.

Jerome is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jan, and four children, Jamey (Sue) Holweger of Larimore, ND, Jeanine (Fred) Strauss of Larimore, ND, Jeanette (Dan) McClure of Commerce, Georgia, and Jay (Jenny) Holweger of Willmar, MN, his sister, Joan Schulz of East Grand Forks, MN, 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a large family of nieces and nephews.  He was proceeded in death by his father Joseph, his mother Irene, his sister Marlene Jones, his brother Joseph (Joey) Holweger, Jr., and his granddaughter Sara Lewis.

A walk-through viewing is scheduled for Wednesday, December 9 at Bakke Funeral Home in Larimore from 1:00-3:00 pm followed by a Graveside Service and interment at 3:30 pm at Pleasant View Cemetery near Emerado.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jerome’s life. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks are required and the family requests observe COVID-19 precautions.
