Kenneth Rostberg

Kenneth Rostberg, age 91, of Larimore, ND, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center where he had been a resident since May 1.

Kenneth, born May 10, 1926, was the youngest of nine children born to Albert and Annie (Berggren) Rostberg. His early school years were at Logan Center and after the passing of his father, when Kenny was nine, the family moved to the farm near Larimore, which was homesteaded by his grandfather, where he spent the remainder of his life. After attending school in Larimore he farmed, worked at the Crystal Sugar Beet Plant prior to joining the Army in 1955. After his discharge in 1958, Kenny attended Wahpeton School of Science and was trained as a diesel mechanic. He retired from the Grand Forks Air Base as a civilian mechanic in 1990.

His joys in life included flying his airplane, building and hunting fox from his snow sleds, which lead to snowmobiling with the club members. Kenny enjoyed hunting for moose in Canada, deer locally, and pheasants in southern North Dakota. His fishing adventures took him from king salmon in Alaska to Devils Lake hunting walleye.

Kenny was a devoted son in caring for his mother, sister Alice, nephews Elroy and Joel, and was a special uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Orrin, Vernel, Fred and sisters Florence, Viola, Ethel, Alice and Lila.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Ruth Rostberg, Grand Forks.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Church of rural Larimore, ND.

VISITATION: Tuesday, August 1 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Wednesday.

INTERMENT: Bethel Church Cemetery.

MILITARY HONORS: Ted Valerius Post 97 of the Larimore American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Team.
