Kristin Mccoy

Kristin McCoy, age 61 of Northwood, ND, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

Kristin Louise McCoy, 61, daughter of LeRoy S Knoff and Clara Marie( Lillehaugen) Knoff, was born June 24, 1955 in Grand Forks, ND, the 4th of 5 children. She spent her first years in Drayton, ND, moving to East Grand Forks, MN in 1963. Kristin attended Concordia College, Moorhead State University, and North Dakota State School of Science, earning degrees in Occupational Therapy and Music Education. She taught elementary music in Northwood and Hatton, ND, and subbed in Larimore, ND. Her first love was teaching, and she always put her students first. She was a champion for the underdog, and her care and concern for her students kept many of them from dropping out of school. In 1976, she married David Anderson, and to this union was born Jennifer Marie (Travis Spainhower), Boise, ID. In 1985 she married Dennis McCoy, Northwood, ND. Their children are Molly Katherine, (Grand Forks) and Shaun Michael, (Northwood). Kristin absolutely loved her camper at Devils Lake. The bonds she formed with her lake friends (Melinda, Jayne, Cynthia, and Bonnie, “The Lake Ladies,” will remain life-long friendships that will not be separated by death. Kristin loved life, children, the water, and above all, she loved her family. Her passing will not separate her spirit or wit from us.

Kristin is survived by her husband, children, Jennifer, Shaun and Molly; and grandson Nathaniel, along with her mother Clara Knoff, (Grand Forks, ND); brothers Kerry (Jerilyn) Knoff, Grand Forks, ND; Kurt (Pat) Knoff, Eden Prairie, MN; Kim (Jill) Knoff, Clive, IA; brother-in-law Rodney DeSautel (Barb), Chisago City, MN; Uncles MeRoy (Carol) Lillehaugen, Golden Valley, MN, and Mike (Cathy) Lillehaugen, Alexandria, MN; Aunt Lorayne Lillehaugen (Grand Forks, ND), and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, her sister Kathy, and her grandparents.

Memorials may be made to the Larimore Strong Room at the Sunshine house in Grand Forks, or the donor’s choice, in lieu of flowers.

NOTE CHANGE IN LOCATION FOR THE RECEPTION AND PRAYER SERVICE
*****A family reception will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, December 21st at ST. STEPHEN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Larimore, ND, with prayer service at 7. A celebration of life will be held at St Stephens Church in Larimore, ND at 1 PM on Thursday, December 22, with the Reverend Jason Darty and Fr William McDermott officiating.
