LEROY CARTIER
Leroy Cartier, age 63, of Larimore, ND, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Leroy James Cartier was born March 23, 1949 at Williston, ND, the son of Joseph and Esther (Bilquist) Cartier. He was raised and grew to manhood at Williston, where he also received his public education. He joined the United States Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. After his discharge he worked as a general construction laborer. Leroy attended welding school in Mitchell, SD in 1977 and then worked as a welder in Medicine Lake, MT.
Leroy was united in marriage to Fern Langevin in 1980 at Williston. After their marriage the couple moved to Minot in 1983 where he worked as a welder. In 1989, he started working for the Dept. of Defense at Grand Forks Air Force Base. The couple made their home in Larimore. He retired due to health reasons in 2012.
Surviving members of his family include his wife Fern; daughters: Christine Cartier, Danielle (Trent) Douglas, and Erica Cartier all of Grand Forks; grandchild: Logan Douglas, sister: Sharon Cartier, Williston; mother-in-law: Marian Bessette, Thief River Falls, MN; 2 brothers-in-law: Larry (Robin) Langevin, Dale (Jenny) Langevin; 2 sisters-in-law: Carol (Rick) Horien and Lynae Englund all of Thief River Falls; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Duane.

SERVICES: Friday, October 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Larimore.

MILITARY HONORS: Ted Valerius Post No. 97, Larimore American Legion.

VISITATION: 5-7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service Thursday, October 18, in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore, ND.
