Lillie Violet Miller Nusviken

Lillie Nusviken was welcomed into heaven by the Lord on Friday April 27, 2018 from Woodside Village 4000 Valley Square, Grand Forks ND.  Lillie Violet Miller was born on June 3, 1924 to Andrew & Sidsel (Haggedahl) Miller.  She grew up on the family farm by Petersburg, ND and was the eleventh of twelve children.

Lillie was baptized and confirmed at Petersburg Lutheran Church with a faith that would guide her throughout her life.  She attended and graduated from Petersburg High School in 1941.  Lillie met Wilbur Nusviken at a dance and they were married on June 20, 1943.  Together they had a son Wynn, with whom they farmed.

Lillie was a 4-H Leader, Sunday School teacher, Niagara Homemaker for 60 years, and a member of the Elm Grove Ladies Aid.  Her favorite role was being Grandma to Tammy & Wayne, and Great Grandma to Thomas, Jenna, Amelia & Laura.  She loved entertaining family & friends, gardening, baking, sewing, crocheting and talking on the phone.

Lillie is dearly missed by Granddaughter Tammy (Jon) Bye Horace, ND, Grandson Wayne (Janel) Nusviken Larimore, ND, Great-Grandchildren Thomas Bye, Jenna, Amelia & Laura Nusviken, Sister-in-law Anna Miller Grand Forks, ND & numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Husband Wilbur, Son Wynn, her parents Andrew & Sidsel, Sisters Esther (Bernie) Dillon, Bertina Miller, Anne (Gene) Gendreau, Adelle (Walter) Kuta, and Selma (Lloyd) Anderson.  Brothers Hjelmar (Alma) Miller, Oliver Miller, Alfred Miller, John (Lila) Miller, Melvin Miller and Lloyd Miller.  Sister-in-laws Opal Nusviken & Pearl (Chester) Schaley.  A niece Sherry (Schaley) Stover, Nephews Allen Miller & Darryl Gendreau.

A celebration of Lillie’s Life will take place on Tuesday May 1 at Bakke Funeral Home, Larimore, ND with a 7pm Prayer Service & visitation an hour before.  A funeral will be held on Wednesday May 2 at 10:30 am at Elm Grove Lutheran Church, rural McCanna ND with visitation an hour before.  Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery.
