Linda Janette Larson (81) passed away at the Northwood Deaconess Health Center on September 1, 2026. Linda was born to Emil and Evelyn (Amundson) Monsebroten on August 18, 1945, at Grafton Deaconess Hospital.

Linda spent her first years in rural Hoople with fond memories of playing with her brothers, friends, and cousins at their home along the Middle Branch Park River. Linda's education started in a rural school in Dundee Township of Walsh County. When Emil and Evelyn purchased a farm in Nelson County, the family moved to rural Petersburg and Linda attended country school in Melvin Township. It was while attending Melvin Township country school that Linda met Duane at a YCL (Young Citizens League) convention in Whitman, ND. After finishing eighth grade at Melvin Township School, Linda joined her brothers at high school in Kloten, ND, where she was a cheerleader for basketball for three years, and graduated in 1963 as valedictorian for her class. After graduation, she was employed at the McVille State Bank as a teller and bookkeeper. In 1966, she married her high school sweetheart, Duane Larson, on September 4.

After various moves to Valley City, Edinburg, Kloten, and West Fargo, the couple and their two small children settled in Larimore in July 1972. In 1974, Linda started working as a teacher's aide at Larimore High School. She really loved being a secretary for the teachers and was disappointed when she was forced to retire in 1994 because of failing eyesight caused by retinopathy due to diabetes. After retiring, she spent a lot of time at home with her grandchildren.

One way of demonstrating her love for friends and family was to always be the proper hostess, whether providing home cooked meals, baked goods (there was an eternal supply of chocolate chip cookies at the ready), or coffee. Family and friends always left with a full heart and a full belly. It was a high priority that her house be kept clean and organized. If you popped in unannounced, you would most likely catch her vacuuming or dusting. It was while cleaning a patio door that she broke her ankle at the end of July 2026, resulting in her rapid health decline.

Linda was a devout Christian. She was baptized at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Park River, ND, and confirmed at Melrose Lutheran Church, rural Petersburg, ND. She helped raise her family in the Christian faith, and attending church services and Sunday School were high priorities. During those years, she was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church Circle and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. When attending church services in person became too difficult due to her health, Linda turned to worshiping her Savior Jesus Christ at home, watching church on TV.

Linda is survived by her husband, Dewey; her children, Todd and Timothy (Tiffany); her grandchildren, Cassandra (Cody) Remboldt, Hayden, Brogen, Ingaborg, and Liv; and her great-grandchildren, Arlo, Hendricks, and Clark; her siblings, Edroy (Beth) Monsebroten, Gary Monsebroten, David (Peggy) Monsebroten, Liane (Darrell) Deutz, Lori (Kurt) Onstad, and Kevin (Dalene) Monsebroten. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Toni Monsebroten.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 12, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Larimore. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
