Lou Behm, age 71, of Hillsboro, ND and formerly Niagara, ND, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at the Sanford Care Center in Hillsboro.
Lou was born September 29, 1952 in Grand Forks, the son of Ferdinand and Vivian (Madson) Behm. He was raised on the family farm near Niagara, and was a 1970 graduate of Unity High School in Petersburg. Lou served in the United States Army from February 2, 1972 to January 22, 1974 during the Vietnam Era. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge he returned to Niagara.
Lou was employed by NODAK Contracting, Crystal Sugar and TriCounty Petro of McVille. He also farmed in partnership with his brother Lynn.
Lou was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church of Niagara where he served on the church council for many years.
A single man, Lou is survived by his brothers: Lynn Behm, Niagara, Loren (Fran Clemens) Behm, Owasso, OK and his sister LeeAnn (Rob) Ouradnik, Lakota. Nieces and nephews: Matthew (Mikki) Behm, Larimore; Carrie Ouradnik, Madison, WI; Lyndsay (Leevi) Stave, Niagara; Erin (Jason) Dreher, Grace City; Andrew (Jessica) Ouradnik, Ogden, UT; and Justin Behm, Denver, Co; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters-in-law Susan Behm and Sandi Behm.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 16 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Niagara, ND.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the service in the church.
INTERMENT: St. Andrew Lutheran Cemetery, rural Niagara.
