LOUISE ANNA KRUEGER
Louise Anna Krueger, Grand Forks, ND, and formerly of Niagara, ND, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, at the age of 98 years, 4 months and 16 days.
Louise was born to parents John and Ella (Strassburg) Behm on September 6, 1914. She began her walk with the Lord Jesus when she received infant baptism at St. Andrew Lutheran Church. She would make a personal profession of faith on the day of her confirmation.
Louise and her sister, Ellen, often worked with the men especially at harvest time. She also was involved at a number of homes as a “helping girl”.
She was united in marriage to Benjamin Krueger on July 6, 1935. The Lord blessed this marriage with the gift of 4 children: George (Annette) Fargo, ND; Eva Olin, Fargo, ND; Janis (Ron Bakke) Hoople, ND and Elna (Edward Anderson) Pisgah, IA. They raised their family on the farm and the Lord blessed their efforts as together they built a barn, a house, quonset, etc. Louise was a hard worker and had large gardens including a beautiful flower garden.
During the years, Louise served her Lord faithfully. She was a Saturday school teacher, a Sunday school teacher. She was involved in the Farmer’s Union and was the dean at a number of summer camps. Upon the death of her husband, she continued to worship faithfully at the University Chapel where she became known as “grandma”, often touching the lives of the students with goodies and bringing them the morning paper. Even in her last years as a fulltime resident of Valley Eldercare, she faithfully worshipped. Even though her eyesight had left her, she sang many of the hymns from memory.
She is survived by her children, 3 sisters: Ellen Olson, Clearbrook, MN; Loretta Hanssen and Vera Odegaard, both of Niagara, 1 brother: Edgar Behm, Fordville; 11 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Behm and Vivian Behm, both of Niagara and Marlys (Leonard) Berdal, Grand Forks; brother-in-law: Al Runyan, Grand Forks; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many other friends and relatives that she often touched in a positive way. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers: Ferdinand “Fernie” Behm, John Behm and Arthur Behm; 3 sisters: Doris Wood, Caroline Runyan and Adeline Olson; and son-in-law: Dennis Olin.
May all who mourn in this death be comforted by the hope of the resurrection. Jesus promised: “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me, will live even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me, will never die”. John 11:25
