Lucile Birkholz

Lucile Evelyn Wick Birkholz, 94, of Larimore, ND, died on Friday, August 14, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society- Larimore, ND.

Lucile was born on January 24, 1921, outside of Kempton, ND, to William Frederick and Ella (Thorsell) Wick. In 1923, she moved with her family to Elm Grove Township. She attended Larimore Public Schools, graduating in 1939. On June 11, 1940, she married Bernhard Albert (Bud) Birkholz of Wilton, WI. The couple lived in the Larimore area until March, 1942, when they moved to Wilton where they resided until March of 1946. At that time, they returned to Larimore where Lucile lived out the rest of her life. Bud passed away on May 4, 1985.

Lucile spent many years as a bus driver for the Larimore school system and enjoyed watching so many of her young riders grow up. She spent a great deal of time caring for family and friends and always made herself available to those who needed her. She loved to sew, do needlepoint and bake. She loved, and will always be loved by, her family and friends.

Lucile was predeceased by her husband Bud, her parents, and her brother Robert (Bob) Wick. She is survived by her son Terry Birkholz, Mayville, ND and daughter Bonnie (Gary) Schaff, Harwinton, CT; grandchildren Holly Schaff, Jared (Leah) Schaff, and Christianna (Shawn) Rice, great grandchildren Charles and Eleanor Schaff and Elijah Rice, cousins LeRoy Larson, Paris, MI; and Marjorie Devine, Fargo, ND; nieces and nephews.

IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: Memorials may be given to the Larimore Ambulance Service, Bellevue Cemetery or Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 2 p.m. Tuesday August 25, 2015 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Larimore.

VISITATION: One hour prior to the service in the church.

INTERMENT: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore, ND
