LUCILLE G. OLSON


Lucille G. Olson, age 94, of Larimore, ND passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society-Larimore.
Lucille was born to Josephine and Harry Dwyer on March 15, 1920 in Russell, ND. She moved with her family to Eckman and then to Maxbass, ND to attend her grade school years. She moved to Niagara, ND in 1931 and completed her years of schooling there. She was baptized and confirmed in Elk Valley Lutheran Church of rural McCanna. Lucille married Olaf M. Olson May 25, 1940 at Elm Grove Lutheran Church of rural McCanna; of which she was a member and very active her whole life. She taught Sunday School, Bible School and held many offices for the Elm Grove Ladies Aid. She was a member of a homemakers club and a 4-H leader for many years. She and Olaf farmed all their married life. Olaf passed away November 18, 2006.
They were soil conservation award winners in 1973 for Grand Forks County. Lucille loved the farm. She had many pretty flowers and large garden. She loved to bake and always had coffee on for anyone who stopped by. Lucille did beautiful handiwork and loved to read all kinds of books; all of which she was doing till the time of her death. She entered the Good Samaritan Center-Larimore on March 24, 2008. She so appreciated her care there and all the activities she went to.
She is survived by her daughters: Irene Johnson, Grand Forks; Helen (Jim) McLean, Larimore; daughter-in-law: Janice Olson, Larimore; Grandchildren: Staci Tupa, Grand Forks, Jeff Johnson, Grand Forks, Rodney McLean and Ryan (Jenny) McLean both of Larimore, Dawn (Cary) Murphy, Clay Center, KS, Tim Olson, Larimore, Matt (Jana) Olson, Valley City and Luke Olson, Williston. Eight Great Grandchildren: Sara Tupa, Morgan and Jace Johnson, Russell and Renae McLean, Ella, Emmett and Emery Olson and sister-in-law: Sophie Dwyer.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husband Olaf, daughter Joanne, son Michael, father Harry Dwyer, mother Josephine Neumann, stepfather Ed Neumann, sister Evelyn Pederson, brother Orville Dwyer and great granddaughter Emily Tupa.
The Family would also like to thank the Good Samaritan Staff at Larimore, Altru Hospice and all Friends and Family for the love and care they have shown to Lucille.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Elm Grove Lutheran Church, rural McCanna, ND.

VISITATION: Friday, May 16 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Good Samaritan Society-Larimore; and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Elm Grove Lutheran Church on Saturday.

INTERMENT: Elm Grove Church Cemetery, McCanna.
