Lyndell Smith

Lyndell Smith age 84 passed away Thursday, November 14th 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Larimore.
Lyndell was born September 10th, 1929 in Northwood, ND, the son of Harry and Merle Smith. He grew up in Larimore and graduated from Larimore High School in 1948. He worked for Davidson Gravel Supply from 1946-1951. He joined the US Army in 1952. He returned to Larimore and worked for Davidson Gravel Supply and Bradshaw Gravel. He married Shirley Benson in 1960 at Dahlen, ND. In 1963, he stared working at the Grand Forks Air Force Base as a winter seasonal heavy equipment operator. During the early seventies he was an equipment operator constructing the ABM site in Nekoma, ND. In 1974 he became a full-time heavy equipment operator at the Grand Forks Air Force Base and retired in 1994. During his retirement he worked for Bill Farrell Farms and traveled around the United States & Canada. Lyndell was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene, Larimore.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, sisters Lois, Mildred, JoAnne, and brother Wayne. Lyndell is survived by his sons Terry (Nancy), Larimore and Tim (Laura), Rochester, MN; grandchildren Sawyer, Seth and Sloan, Larimore; sisters Marion Aaker, Fargo; Marjorie Davidson, Joplin, MO; Eleray Beauford, St. Paul, MN; Mavis Wold, Centerville, MN; Janice Jones, Silver Vale, WA; Maxine Barry, Larimore; Laverne Solum, Fargo; and brother Clayton Smith, Maple Valley, WA and special friend, LaVonne Jacobson, Larimore.

Funeral Services: Saturday, November 23 at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Nazerene, Larimore

Visitation: Friday, November 22 from 6-8 pm with a prayer service at 7:30 at the Bakke Funeral Home, Larimore and one hour before service on Saturday

Burial: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore;
