Marian Elizabeth Peterson age 83 entered her heavenly home on November 6 th . She passed away at home due to complications of Pneumonia.
Marian was born July 27, 1937 at Niagara, ND to Rudolph and Myrtle (Paulson) Leen. She was baptized and Confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church rural Larimore. She attended and graduated from Niagara Public School #127 in 1955.
Following graduation, she married Richard Hoversland, to this union 3 children were born, Maxine, Russell and Donna. She worked at Northwood Deaconess Hospital and Home for a number of years as a Nurse Aide and at Krabbenhoft Cheverolet as an Office Manager. On October 4 th , 1974 she married Gordon Peterson, in 1976 they moved to Minot, ND. There, she was Finance & Insurance Manager at Jim Ryan Chevrolet and Minot AFB. A move to California in 1988 was where she did drug testing for Walmart. She attended Estes Institute of Cosmetology in 1990, graduated and owned her own salon for a short time. She loved and enjoyed people, she sold Avon, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Beauty for Seasons as a color consultant. She obtained her CNA license and become a Home Health supervisor for the elderly and disabled. A move to Tulsa, OK came in 1995, once again she become a Home Health participant, managed scheduling of caregivers to their patients. She was gentle and kind, always gracious and sensitive to the needs of others, with a strong and determined personality. In 2005 they moved back to ND due to health problems, she was a recipient of a liver transplant in December of 2007. In memory of Marian, please register as an organ donor and give the gift of life.
She is a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Larimore, active member of American Legion Auxiliary, Good Samaritan Nursing Home auxiliary, Red Hat Lady society, the Classy Crimson Cuties and The Larimore Senior Center.
Marian enjoyed music, singing in the choir, dancing, reading, enthusiastic rummage/auction sales, doing many crafts, computer work, her Christmas anonymous project of making baskets to give to those in need was a top priority in her life. Her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren were a delight as she displayed pictures of them around her home.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her, husband Gordon, Larimore, ND, Daughters: Maxine (Charles)Bachmeier, Northwood, ND, Donna Willoughby, Garrison, ND. Grandchildren: Jeremy (Jodi) Bachmeier of Hendrum, MN, Justin (Nicole) Bachmeier, of Hatton, ND, Jared Bachmeier of Northwood, ND. Brock Grosz, of Lincoln, ND. and Jasper Grosz of Bismarck, ND, Great Grandchildren: Jaden, Brooke, Danica, Zander, Molly, Joslyn, Trinity and Dawson, Austin and Great Great Grandaughter Mila. Sisters: Irene (James) Mork of Grand Forks, ND, Gladyce (Rodney) Peterson of Northwood, ND. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Russell Hoversland, sister Donna Leen, brother Leonard Leen and granddaughter Cassie Marie Grosz. Brother Robert Leen and sister-in-law Ardyce Leen, son-in-law Jim Willoughby. Nephews: Dennis Leen, Daniel Krueger and Robert (WB) Leen.
A public visitation will be held Tuesday, November 10, from 9-10 a.m. followed by a family funeral service in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Larimore. Burial will be in the Northwood Cemetery, Northwood, ND.
Social distancing and masks are required.
