Marian Temple

Marian Sofiea Foss Temple, age 92 of Larimore, ND, died Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Northwood Deaconess Hospital.  She was born on January 19, 1927 on a farm near Emerado, North Dakota to John and Jennie Foss.

She attended a country grade school and went on to Emerado high school. She graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1945.  Marian taught grade school from 1945 to 1946.  Following a year of teaching she attended Cosmetology School earning a Beauticians license.  She worked at several shops before opening her own shops in Northwood and then Larimore.  She married Harlen Temple and they raised 3 children.  She continued in the cosmetology trade until a back injury forced her to retire.

From 1970 to 1980 she owned and operated Marians Drive Inn in Larimore North Dakota.  She moved to Grand Forks and worked at Jeanie’s Restaurant and later worked for Grand Forks county until her retirement in 1992.

Marian served as the secretary of the Grand Forks County Homemakers Club in 1962.  She also participated in softball, basketball and bowling teams.  She and her husband were well known for their dance and roller-skating skills.

She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church serving as a Sunday School Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jennie Foss, her sister Dorothy, her brother Gordon, and son-in-law Bryon Hansen.  She is survived by her sister Mabel Otto of Madison, WI and her three children, Dwight and Joan Temple of Cherokee Village AR, Rick and Cathy Temple of Garland, TX, and Jan Temple Hansen of Northwood ND.  Marian also has 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren, with the 18 ^th due in September.

Visitation will be held at Bakke Funeral Home, 701 Towner Ave, Larimore, ND, on Thursday August 8 ^th 5pm to 7pm with a prayer service at 7 p.m.  Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Friday.

The Funeral Service will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church 302 Booth Ave. Larimore ND, Friday August 9 ^th at 10:00 a.m.

Interment following the service at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND .
