Marjorie (Marge) Lepire Gillespie 82 of Larimore North Dakota peacefully passed away April 11th 2026 at Hatton Prairie Village nursing home. Marge was born on December 13th 1943 at
home in Walhalla North Dakota. She attended grades 1-8 at the country one-room schoolhouse in Popular Grove. She then completed high school in Walhalla North Dakota. She worked on the family farm feeding the chickens, gathering eggs and milking the cows. She admitted to not
liking the chore of cleaning the cream separator every day. After high school she attended Mayville State College from 1961-64 where she obtained her teaching degree. She taught school in Wauban Minnesota, St Michaels in Grand Forks and St Sebastian School in Chicago Illinois. On December 9th, 1967, she married Charles (Chuck) Gillespie at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. In 1968 Chuck and Marge moved to Larimore North Dakota where Chuck started his dental practice. Marge worked as his dental assistant and secretary until the birth of their
children Jennifer and Scott. She then devoted her time and love to raising their children. Marge enjoyed sewing, gardening, golfing and bowling league. She was a girl scout leader, involved with her kid’s school activities and served on various community boards. She was an active
member of St. Stephens Catholic church in Larimore and served many years on the church altar society.
Marge enjoyed time with Chuck traveling and spending time at the lake. She cheered on UND at football and hockey games and was a longtime UND booster club member. Marge was a
devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren, always there to provide love and guidance. She was present in the stands cheering for her grandchildren and the Larimore Polar Bears.
Marge in her later years enjoyed exercise classes at the Larimore Senior Center, coffee time with her girlfriends, tending her flower garden, pontoon rides with friends and family at the lake, and walking the family spaniel Lizzie.
Marge is survived by her husband Chuck Gillespie. Children Jennifer (Tyrone) Verkuehlen, Scott (Pearl) Gillespie and brother Gary (Peggy) Lepire. Grandchildren Trevor, Royce (Carly) and Haley Verkuehlen.
She was preceded in death by her parents Adelord and Alexina Lepire. Siblings Elaine (Larry)
Darling, Joyce (Herb) Johnson, Deloris (Jim) Frome and Donna (Jim) Reller. Nephew Christopher Lepire.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 18th at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Larimore North Dakota. Visitation will be at 10 am at the church with the funeral following at 11am.
Lunch will be served in the church basement following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Marge Gillespie’s name.
The family would like to thank staff at Altru Hospital, Prairie Hatton Village and Hearts in Action Hospice for their compassionate care. Special thanks also to Father
Casey Kopacz and Father John Cavanaugh for their spiritual support.
