Marlys Berdal, age 89, of Grand Forks and formerly of Petersburg and Niagara, ND, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Valley Senior Living on 42 nd , Woodside Village.
Marlys Ann Whaley was born at Orr, ND, the daughter of Lloyd and Segrid (Hove) Whaley on October 23, 1931. She was Baptized and Confirmed at Elk Valley Lutheran Church, rural McCanna, ND. She attended and graduated from Larimore High School. Marlys was united in marriage to John Paul Behm on December 11, 1950. The couple settled at Niagara where they raised four daughters: Debbie (Tom Hall), Pam (Jeff Stumpf), Cheryl Beiswenger, and Sara (Loren Bervik). John preceded her in death on November 3, 1986.
On December 30, 1989 she was united in marriage to Leonard Berdal. They settled in Petersburg, ND. The last 9 years were spent in Grand Forks. She enjoyed gardening, listening to music, quilting, and spending time with family and friends.
Marlys is survived by her husband Leonard, four daughters: Debbie (Tom Hall), Pam (Jeff Stumpf), Cheryl Beiswenger, Sara (Loren Bervik), 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband John, her parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
FUNERAL SERVICES: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Niagara, ND.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the funeral in the church.
