Mary Ellen Larson

Mary Ellen (Fried) Larson, age 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2022, at Edgewood Parkwood in Grand Forks, ND.  Mary Ellen was born in Jamestown, ND on February 28, 1929 to Erlemonde (Foley) Fried and Calvin Fried.

She grew up in Fried, Minto, and Dahlen, ND and taught in rural schools for two years.  On November 5, 1948, Mary Ellen married Glenn Larson and together they raised five children.

Mary Ellen lived the glamorous life of a Farm Wife, her home serving as the hub of her extended-family’s meals and celebrations.  She was all about growing, canning, cooking, baking, and serving delicious food.  Mary Ellen loved and supported the Church all her life, especially through the St. Marks Altar Society in Conway, ND.

Mary Ellen is survived by her sons, Lynn Larson, Fordville, ND, and Les Larson (Elodie), La Plata, NM, and daughters, Laurine Hodny (Tim), Grand Forks, ND, and Denise Ramsdale (Scott), Eagan, MN, sister Jeanie Mosolf (Jim), daughter-in-law Mary Larson, 11 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Glenn, son; Dean, daughter-in-law; Rosie, daughter-in-law; Robin, great grandson; Dylan, and her favorite aunt, Judy Hildebrandt.

Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Jason Lefor, will be held March 25, 2022 at 10:30 am at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pisek, ND.

Visitation will be held on March 24, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Bakke Funeral Home in Fordville, ND, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm.  Visitation will also be held one hour before the Funeral Mass.

Rite of Christian Burial will be in St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery, Conway.
