Mary Lieberg

Mary Lieberg, age 96, of Larimore, ND, passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society-Larimore.
Mary was born December 25, 1916 at Emerado, ND, the daughter of Hector and Andrine (Aarhiem) Griffin. She was raised and grew to womanhood near Emerado, where she also received her public education.
Mary married Arthur Lieberg on April 17, 1937 at Larimore. After their marriage the couple moved to a farm where the Grand Forks Air Force Base is now located. In 1944, they moved to Mekinock Township where they lived until 1956 when they moved to Larimore. In 1953, they established the Parkway Drive Inn near Arvilla. In 1958, they moved next to the Drive Inn. In 1961 they purchased the Parkway Motel near the Drive Inn. They sold the Parkway Drive Inn in 1976 and continued to operate and live in the Parkway Motel until they sold it in 1986. The couple then retired, and moved into Larimore. Mr. Lieberg preceded her in death on July 10, 2002.
Mary was a member of the Arvilla Presbyterian Church and was a life member of the Larimore American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving members of her family include her son: Alden (Orpha) Lieberg, Arvilla; daughters: Arlene (Everett) Paulson, Arvilla; Donna (Forrest) Solseng, Larimore; Ione (Brad) Lucas, Dallas, Georgia; daughter-in-law: Sharon Lieberg, Aberdeen, SD; 20 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren; and her sister: Edith McGrath, Grand Forks, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: Bruce; son-in-law: Donald Barry, infant grandson, grandson: Matthew Barry; great grandson: Cody Beck; great granddaughters: Tatum Lockwood and Deidre Lockwood; sisters: Agnes Mickle, Vera Hazen, Verna Christopher, Helen Myers and brothers: Harold, John, Donald, Leonard, William and Clayton.

FUNERAL SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Arvilla Presbyterian Church in Arvilla.

VISITATION: Thursday, October 31 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore.

INTERMENT: Arvilla Cemetery, Arvilla.
