Maurice “Morrie” Paulsen, age 81, of Larimore, ND passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Maurice was born March 29, 1939 in Red Wing, MN, the son of Maurice D. and Orpha (Kimball) Paulsen. He was raised and grew to manhood at Red Wing and graduated from Red Wing High School. He then attended the University of Minnesota and the University of North Dakota where he played football for each. He earned his Master’s Degree in Physical Education. Morrie was united in marriage to Anita Hahn in 1965. She preceded him in death in 1990.
Morrie taught at a number of schools where he also coached football. He was head football coach at the University of Minnesota-Crookston and Assistant Line coach for UND football. He was an avid golfer and had a great love for all sports, especially watching his grandkids play.
Morrie met Mary Kressin on the golf course in 2004 and they were married June 14, 2014 in Larimore. They enjoyed their summers playing golf at the Larimore Golf Course.
Surviving members of his family include his wife Mary; children Dan (Tracy) Kressin, Crookston, MN, Becca Pernat, Larimore, Melissa (Matt) Sjostrom, Bemidji, MN; grandchildren Kallie, Breanna, Brody, Kinsey, Jacie, Brooklynn, Baya and great-grandson Ryker; brother Dean (Joan) Paulsen, Temple, TX; sister Donna (Ray) Kimball, Omaha, NE; uncle Aaron Kimball; nieces and nephews; and special friends Cheryl and Cindy Adams.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Anita, his parents, brother-in-law Ken Kellogg, aunts and uncles.
Private services will be held in the Bakke Funeral Chapel of Larimore, ND.
Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
