MICHAEL MCMAHON

Michael Bang McMahon, age 91 of Larimore, ND passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society-Larimore.
Mike was born a proud Irishman December 16, 1922 to Leo and Annie (Bang) McMahon at the family farm house in Plymouth Township in Grand Forks County. He graduated from Larimore High School in 1941 and joined the U. S Army Air Corp in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. He married Marjorie Carlson January 4, 1944. They spent the next 70 years raising three children, farming and traveling to all fifty states with very dear friends, including lifelong friends Hank and Betty Ellertson.
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, on the board of directors of the McCanna Elevator for 18 years and on the Grand Forks County FHA board. He was baptized, confirmed and married in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Larimore where he was a lifetime member.
He is survived by his wife Marge, son: Greg (Joan), Larimore; daughters: Bonnie (Arnold) Bartelson, Grand Forks and Judy (Ray) Leddige, Reynolds. Grandchildren: Jeff (Cary) McMahon, Family Farm (4th Generation), Megan (Chris) St. Peter, Bemidji; Paul (Amy) McMahon, Thornton, Co; Nicole (Lynn) Shelton, Otsego, MN; Mike (Mia) Johnson, Loveland, CO; Jon Leddige, Sioux Falls, SD; Lacey (Codie) Zahradka, Kindred and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Kathleen Lyons.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Larimore.

VISITATION: Wednesday, June 25 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service held in the Bakke Funeral Home of Larimore. Visitation will also be held in the church for one hour prior to the service Thursday.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.

MILITARY HONORS: Ted Valerius Post No. 97 of the Larimore American Legion and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Team.
