Norman "Andy" Andrew Kaste

Norman “Andy” Kaste, age 89, of Pisek, ND, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at First Care Health Center, Park River, ND.

Norman Kaste was born December 15, 1930 in Conway, ND, the son of Alf and Annie (Foerster) Kaste. He was raised in the Conway area, where he attended school through the 8 ^th grade. He served overseas in the U.S. Army in 1952 and was honorably discharged following his father’s heart attack that same year. Norman was married to Linda Pfannsmith on April 23, 1955 in Park River. After their marriage they lived in the Conway-Pisek area. Norman worked for the Soo Line Railroad, performed various duties for the city of Conway, and farmed his entire life. The couple were snowbirds, and spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona. Norman was a member of the Inkster and Pisek American Legion for 65 years. His hobbies included watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, watching wildlife out the windows of his home, watching the Little League World Series, and cutting the grass on his farm.

Surviving members of his family include his sons: Cal (Denise) Kaste, Fargo; Shane (Margaret) Kaste, Grafton and Lon (Shelley) Kaste, Park River; 7 grandchildren: Nicole (Dustin) Schwartz, Fargo; Kory (Kaja) Kaste, Wahpeton; Brandon (Liz) Kaste, Fargo; Ryan Kaste, Grand Forks; Darin (Alyssa) Kaste, Grand Forks; Ethan Kaste, Washington DC and Kiri Kaste, Grand Forks; His sister: Irene Lunden, Maple Lake, MN; Sister in law: Judy Linstad, Weston, MO; and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Kaste, parents, and grandsons: David Kaste and Aaron Kaste.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, at St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pisek. Rite of Christian Burial will be in St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery in Conway, N.D. Military Honors will be accorded by the Novotny-Kachena Post 208 of the Pisek American Legion and the ND National Guard Honor Team.
